Bugeater 2014

Alright, so this entry is a long time in coming, between being swamped and work and general lazyness once more.

This weekend I will be attending the 2014 Bugeater GT down in Omaha, NE and I will be participating in the team tournament on Friday. For the team I kind of tossed around several ideas for my 1000pt army, initially wanting to try out the new Tempestus Scions, but the amount of stuff I would have had to buy, build and paint in the time I had wouldn't have been feasible. In the end I decided to take a small Astra Militarum(Imperial Guard) Force, but I didn't exactly just want to take my old IG models that are already painted up and use them, mainly because I've become a better painter since they were finished. What I ended up doing was taking a squad of my old troops and stripping the paint from them, I took two of my Leman Russ tanks and finished them up with washes(Still don't and probably won't have them highlighted), I also added in a platoon of the new Scions, one of the new Commissar models and picked up a couple more pieces to finish out a Vostroyan squad so I could run a bit of a combined arms army.

My List:
HQ:
Lord Commissar - 65
Plasma Pistol - 15
Power Weapon - 15
Carapace - 5
Total - 100

Troop:
Veteran - 60

+5 Scions - 60

Total - 160

Leman Russ - 150
Lascannon - 10
Total - 160

Though I realize I'm 15pt short of my 1000, but it's too late to add anything, so ohwell.

And just finished as of last night, the completed army! I might get the Russes highlighted, but I'm working the next couple of days, so probably not.

Tempestus Scions: 10 man squad and Command Squad: (I have yet to come up with a regimental name, other than they are the 7th.

Now that I can sit down and look over the models that I've built and that I've painted, I have a few thoughts about the two new kits that I worked on, namely the Scions and the Commissar.

Let's start with the Scions. First off, this kit is absolutely magnificent to put together, all the arms and backpacks are paired up and numbered so that its a breeze to get the correct parts fitting together. I think the most trouble I had was with the banner bearer, had to bend the pole a bit to get both hands to fit properly, but it wasn't that big of a deal. As well, the sheer amount of pieces you get with this box set makes for a lot of great combinations of gear. Plenty of extras like knives, grenades, Imperial Primers as well as a huge assortment of heads. You get about 5 or 6 with berets and you get the same number with full helmets.

For the new Commissar, it may be a single pose model, but it does go together exceptionally well, with little to no mold lines showing up. It is definitely a model I would buy again just to try and change it up.

Thanks for reading or looking haha.

For Vostroya and The Emperor!

Just a minor update today, but it was a joy to paint these models.

In a couple of days time I will be heading out for a couple of days worth of gaming. One of the games we'll be playing is going to be Killzone and looking through the rules I decided to use some Storm Troopers from the Imperial Guard codex as part of my force. No longer having any painted up or assembled, I dug out a handful of the Vostroyans I have sitting around, mainly wanting to paint something different from my current Guard army.  After painting up these couple of guardsmen, I really think I might pick up some more of the models so that I can make a couple of squads worth.

Now with these guys done, I've got four more troopers and one officer left that will definitely be painted up soon..

Straight from the Warp!

Got a bit of a progress update for you all today! Coming up in this post is my newly finished Daemon Prince with Black Mace, my painted Terminator Lord, Terminator Champion and four new Noise Marines. The only thing not finished on several of these bases is the lack of water effects which won't be done until after the first of the year.

All the pictures were taken with and without flash to highlight some areas better until I can get a few more photo lights.

For the Legion!

So today was a good day! I got my first squad of Kakophoni marines in for my Emperor's Children Legion and let me say, they are absolutely beautiful models and I can not wait to get more of them. Only downside I can see is that the head, torso and legs for each marine are one piece, which caused a bit of a set back for my Terminator Lord plans. Though after a bit of debate and then quick work with a saw and a pair of cutters I had managed to cut the upper body of one marine away and then carve the head free of the upper body. This leaves me short one Kakophoni until I can graft a spare torso to the undamaged legs.

Backtracking a bit, because I've only realised I didn't show my last Forge World order. Previously I ordered and received Fulgrim and a squad of Phoenix Guard Terminators. (Pictures will come soon). A bit of chaosing up and greenstuffing later, I have four Chaos Terminators and one Terminator Lord out of them.

Kakophoni Marines (Minus the one I cut apart)
Marine that was cut apart and the replacement torso.
 The Chora
Last but not least, my Phoenix Guard Terminator lord with Doom Siren(Counts as Burning Brand)

Updates Updates Updates!

It's time again to toss up some finished models so that it actually looks like I'm maintaining this blog. While some of these pictures are duplicates of previous posts I wanted to get a shot of them together and better shots in some cases.

First up is my completed Sorcerer with Spell Familiar. Also kind of hard to see in the pictures, but I've crafted(toyed with) a warp fire effect using sculptable water effects and a pair of inks. I'm rather proud at how it turned out in the end.

Also if the Spell Familiar's violin looks awkward, it's because the very tip broke off and I haven't been able to find it. >.<

Next up is my completed Chaos Marine squad. Finally got all ten marines painted up.
Newest of the squad, my second Melta Gunner.

And finally  redone pictures for my Dark Apostle.

That about sums this post up!  Next post is looking like the rest of my Noise Marine Squad, or possibly of a few new models when they show up in the mail, we'll see which happens first.
