US Paratroopers Update #2!

Alright so we have ourselves another update on my US Paratroopers, not a big one mind you, but an update none the less.

Last night I finished up 3 more stands for my 82nd Airborne, so here they are.

US Paratroopers updated!

Alright so I finally got my order for flock placed and received it fairly quickly, withing 3 or 4 days I believe. For anyone wondering I ordered from Scenic Express and the amount I received for the amount I paid, absolutely wonderful and it's got a very nice color and quality to it as well! If anyone is looking for flock options I would hands down recommend them.

First off is a picture of the 3 static grass shades that I ordered, along with a shaker of fine turf to act as a nice basecoat to the grasses.

Next is the flock mix I will be using for my 82nd Airborne, made from secret quantities from all 4 containers.(Mwahahaha!)

And finally! The flock applied to my first 3 stands of paratroopers and I couldn't be happier with the results! I still want to add more variety to upcoming bases; stones, flock tufts and meadow flowers,  I believe that this is a good start.  Also, sorry if the pictures aren't the best, still working out the best way to photograph the smaller models.

Flames of War! 82nd Airborne!

Alright, time for a bit of a direction change I believe! Having kind of fallen out of the mood to do anything with 40k; gaming, painting, hobbying, those sorts of things. I decided to finally take the step and pick up the Flames of War: Open Fire! box set and I must say, aside from a couple of little issues with the included Shermans, I am rather impressed with how much you get in this box set.

With the box containing both Axis and Allied forces, I decided to start painting up the US paratroopers first, had watched a lot of Band of Brothers before hand, so it made selecting my first army easy. While I don't know the exact list I'm going to build, still need to order my army book, I do know that I want it to be a late war US paratrooper company out of the newer Market Garden book and I know in the book they have unique lists for both 101st and 82nd airborne units, so I decided to go with the 82nd. So without me blabbering on any longer, here are the first 3 stands for my Para Company.

With the painting, I've painted the paratroopers in their 1943 uniforms to put them in the proper theater of war and I've also done my best to include the US flag on their right shoulder, along with the 82nd unit badge on the left. Some of the colors, mostly the foliage on the helmets, I highlighted with a brighter green and brown than normal, just to make the figures stand out a little more.

These are also not finish, I still need to add ground flock and static grass to the bases.

Lucius the Eternal!

Small update for today, but an update none the less and one that I am especially proud of! My take on Lucius the Eternal, converted up and painted. Built from a mixture of Forgeworld, Games Workshop, Maximini and Puppets War pieces and based on one of the Blasted Wetland bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures.

I'm pleasantly pleased with how well this came out, though I will admit I am slightly disappointed with my freehanded icon of Slaanesh on his right shoulder, but it still breaks up the shoulder pad so I'm okay with it.

Bag-O-Updates!

Okay! So I've been slacking pretty hard when it comes to keeping up with my blog updates, especially since I've actually been doing modeling work and painting.

So a couple posts ago I put up the first painted model for my Emperor's Children Chaos Space Marines army and around the start of the year I tossed my hat and army into the Hobby Challenge being hosted by The Independent Characters podcast(http://theindependentcharacters.com/blog/) and so far my army is coming together, no major hiccups and I'm really getting into the absurdness of my paint scheme.

First up, my Chaos Lord(with my first attempt at actually greenstuffing a cape):

Contesting the skies of the battlefield for the Prince of Pleasure is my Heldrake. A wonderful model to build, with only one or two minor issues, namely the exhaust ports which are just open holes to the interior of the model. The six exterior ones got a coat of greenstuff daemon skin, while the main thruster was given an actual interior:

That about covers it for my recently painted and built models. Not pictured is my first 10 man noise marine unit(They are in the paint booth right now getting primed).

Finally on top of all the models I recently put together a dedicated hobby room so that I can actually focus on building and painting, instead of watching TV haha.
