For the Legion!

So today was a good day! I got my first squad of Kakophoni marines in for my Emperor's Children Legion and let me say, they are absolutely beautiful models and I can not wait to get more of them. Only downside I can see is that the head, torso and legs for each marine are one piece, which caused a bit of a set back for my Terminator Lord plans. Though after a bit of debate and then quick work with a saw and a pair of cutters I had managed to cut the upper body of one marine away and then carve the head free of the upper body. This leaves me short one Kakophoni until I can graft a spare torso to the undamaged legs.

Backtracking a bit, because I've only realised I didn't show my last Forge World order. Previously I ordered and received Fulgrim and a squad of Phoenix Guard Terminators. (Pictures will come soon). A bit of chaosing up and greenstuffing later, I have four Chaos Terminators and one Terminator Lord out of them.

Updates Updates Updates!

It's time again to toss up some finished models so that it actually looks like I'm maintaining this blog. While some of these pictures are duplicates of previous posts I wanted to get a shot of them together and better shots in some cases.

First up is my completed Sorcerer with Spell Familiar. Also kind of hard to see in the pictures, but I've crafted(toyed with) a warp fire effect using sculptable water effects and a pair of inks. I'm rather proud at how it turned out in the end.

Also if the Spell Familiar's violin looks awkward, it's because the very tip broke off and I haven't been able to find it. >.<

Next up is my completed Chaos Marine squad. Finally got all ten marines painted up.

That about sums this post up!  Next post is looking like the rest of my Noise Marine Squad, or possibly of a few new models when they show up in the mail, we'll see which happens first.

Emperor's Children Update

This past week the painting and modeling bug has hit me again for my Emperor's Children Chaos Marines and I have finally gotten my Dark Apostle conversion painted up. Along with my Apostle, I also built a new Noise Champion and Sorcerer from the Forgeworld Palantine Blades kit.

On top of these models, today I also received in trade for my Flames of War Germans a modest assortment of Cawdor gangers and Frateris Militia models that will become part of my Carnivale in the near future.

I also obtained these, those it is kind of hard to tell what they are right now, but they are a pair of Sisters of Battle Exorcist Organs which will soon become Dirge Casters on my Noise Marine Rhinos and possibly a Land Raider.

US Paratroopers Update #2!

Alright so we have ourselves another update on my US Paratroopers, not a big one mind you, but an update none the less.

Last night I finished up 3 more stands for my 82nd Airborne, so here they are.

Alright so I finally got my order for flock placed and received it fairly quickly, withing 3 or 4 days I believe. For anyone wondering I ordered from Scenic Express and the amount I received for the amount I paid, absolutely wonderful and it's got a very nice color and quality to it as well! If anyone is looking for flock options I would hands down recommend them.

First off is a picture of the 3 static grass shades that I ordered, along with a shaker of fine turf to act as a nice basecoat to the grasses.

Next is the flock mix I will be using for my 82nd Airborne, made from secret quantities from all 4 containers.(Mwahahaha!)

And finally! The flock applied to my first 3 stands of paratroopers and I couldn't be happier with the results! I still want to add more variety to upcoming bases; stones, flock tufts and meadow flowers,  I believe that this is a good start.  Also, sorry if the pictures aren't the best, still working out the best way to photograph the smaller models.

Flames of War! 82nd Airborne!

Alright, time for a bit of a direction change I believe! Having kind of fallen out of the mood to do anything with 40k; gaming, painting, hobbying, those sorts of things. I decided to finally take the step and pick up the Flames of War: Open Fire! box set and I must say, aside from a couple of little issues with the included Shermans, I am rather impressed with how much you get in this box set.

With the box containing both Axis and Allied forces, I decided to start painting up the US paratroopers first, had watched a lot of Band of Brothers before hand, so it made selecting my first army easy. While I don't know the exact list I'm going to build, still need to order my army book, I do know that I want it to be a late war US paratrooper company out of the newer Market Garden book and I know in the book they have unique lists for both 101st and 82nd airborne units, so I decided to go with the 82nd. So without me blabbering on any longer, here are the first 3 stands for my Para Company.

With the painting, I've painted the paratroopers in their 1943 uniforms to put them in the proper theater of war and I've also done my best to include the US flag on their right shoulder, along with the 82nd unit badge on the left. Some of the colors, mostly the foliage on the helmets, I highlighted with a brighter green and brown than normal, just to make the figures stand out a little more.

These are also not finish, I still need to add ground flock and static grass to the bases.
